Last year we were asked to design and execute an animated segment of a PBS documentary titled Aging in America : Survive or Thrive. Narrated by Martin Sheen, the film examines the promises and challenges that the nation faces with an ever increasing aging population.
The animated sequence illustrates the increase in longevity throughout human history, including the dramatic rise since the industrial revolution. Starting with archival engravings and lithographs, a variety of techniques were implemented to help bring the segment to life.
